But, briefly, on Windows x64, 32-bit applications are emulated (WOW64) legacy. 32-bit is not the native format. 64-bit is, so that's what you should be running by default. You should only resort to 32-bit if there's a major issue that's solved by using the 32-bit version. Even then, that should only be a temporary solution. So, it's not even really a question about advantage, but about using the correct, native format. But, with 64-bit, there's a chance of some performance gain, security gain, and the amount of ram you can address. It might use a little bit more memory that 32-bit due to pointer sizes.
